Background Checks
The American National Red Cross has recently mandated that all Red

charge to them) whether they are new to the organization or have been
associated with the Red Cross in the past. The information in this
section will provide details regarding this new mandate and protocols
that have been outlined for this initiative.

The American National Red Cross has set-up
Minimum Background Check
Standards that apply to all volunteers and paid staff. All background
checks will include a Social Security Number verification and a review
of the National Criminal Database. Background checks will review conduct
within the past seven years. If you have concerns regarding past conduct that may
appear on your record, please
send us an email.
Fair Credit Reporting Act
To view information on the Fair Credit Reporting Act, click one of
these links:
- Fair Credit Reporting Act (English)
- Fair Credit Reporting Act (Spanish)
As part of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the consumer (applicant,
employee or volunteer) must personally consent to the background check
process before it begins and remain informed of the process every step
of the way. No other person can initiate a background check on behalf of
another person!! You will be asked to give your consent as part of the
background check process on
MyBackGroundCheck.com.
If you have difficulties with this process, please
send us an email. We
will happily assist you through the process!
Background checks for American Red Cross employees and volunteers
benefit everyone. For example, when victims of a house fire, hurricane
or other disaster need help, they know they can trust the Red Cross. And
when individuals volunteer or join the Red Cross paid staff, they know
they are in trusted company.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns about this new
initiative, please send us an email.
